「Kaleidoscope」／かれいどすこーぷ

バークリーへ奨学生として入学し、「作編曲科でドラム専攻」というおよそ役にたちそうにない妙な組み合わせで卒業したあたりからなんだか変だったが、当時から、バークリーじゅうを探してもなかなか演奏できる人が見つからないような難曲ばかり書き、うざったがられる。帰国後、どのジャンルからもはみだし、いやおうなく、未来音楽CPJ（Contemporary Progressive Jazz）という先駆的なジャンルを立ち上げ、Junky Funk, Line Drive,JackpotなどのCPJ系バンドを、作曲家＆マルチインストゥルメンタリスト（ピアノ、ギター、ベース、ドラム）として牽引しながら、Junky Funkの「Jack-in-the-Box」、「Bird's Eye Prospects」、そして、Line Drive「Line Drive」など、アルバムをリリースし続け、国内外各地で演奏し反響を呼んでいる。その松井が、このアルバムのプロデュースでは、CPJとは対照的なほのぼの感を齎し、「意外性の山倉」（古いっ）ならぬ、「意外性の元木」、いやいや、「意外性の松井」となるのか？

‘t was already WEIRD when he graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston,M.A. with this seemingly stupid and inefficient combination of “majoring in Jazz Composition” and “the drums as his principal instrument”.
Musicians in and around Berklee were scared of the finically complex music that he wrote those days. Kicked out of mediocre commercial-oriented Jazz back in Japan, he inevitably named his own innovative category CPJ(Contemporary Progressive Jazz) to distinguish it from other music. And lead multiple CPJ bands, Junky Funk, Line Drive, Jackpot, and so on, as a composer and multi-instrumentalist to perform keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums, which is something unprecedented. He’s released Junky Funk’s “Jack-in-the-Box”, “Bird’s Eye Prospects”, and Line Drive’s “ Line Drive” as his CPJ works. Hard to imagine what it would sound like when a CPJ-oriented guy like him produce a relaxing album like “Kaleidoscope.”
